WEBELOS WEEK 2002 at CAMP SPRANG FACT SHEET for WEBELOS WEEK 2002 at CAMP STRANG WHAT: Week long resident camp program for Webelos Scouts and their Leaders WHO: 1st Year Webelos - Cubs who are in Bear Den now 2nd Year Webelos - Boys who are in 1st. year Webelos Den now (Boys now in 2nd year Webelos Den should camp with Scout Troop next summer) WHERE: Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation, Goshen, CT Sunday, July 28 - Thursday, August 1, 2002 HOW: Register as Chartered Den - Webelos Den Leader or other Pack adult will reserve space for your Den at Camp through the Housatonic Council Office (1 -203-734-3329) - Can’t get the Den together? - Come as a provisional camper and join with Webelos from other Packs in a Den supervised by qualified adult leaders. LEADERSHIP: Den leadership for camp is two BSA registered adults, one of who must be at least 21 years of age. Two leaders attend camp free of charge. If you have more than 10 boys, one additional leader for each 5 additional boys may attend free. Additional leadership will be charged the cost of meals, only. Ideal Den size for program activities is 8-10 boys. Small Dens or Dens with only one leader will be combined. Den Chiefs are welcome at no fee. FEES: Chartered Den fee is $185 if paid by May 31, 2002, $195 if paid after that date. Financial assistance is available. Campership applications may be obtained from your Cubmaster or the Camping Secretary. CAMP LIVING: Den campsite has platform tents, two bunks in each. Boys bring sleeping bag or blanket roll. Washing and drinking water in site. Picnic table covered by dining fly. Pit latrine. Showers available nearby. Centrally-located restroom/showers with flush toilet available for adults. Three nutritious meals per day served family style in dining hall. PROGRAM: From polar bear swim to evening activities, the Den and its leaders participate as a group in a structured program. Each Den’s daily program consists of hour-long sessions of swimming, boating, shooting sports (archery and BB’s on alternate days), nature (Forester, Geologist, and Naturalist), scoutcraft (knife-safety, knots and firebuilding), and games. FUN: Polar Bear Swim, morning and evening flag ceremonies, archery, BB shooting, swimming, boating, fishing, nature hikes, rocks, bugs, trees, knots, knife safety and carving, campfires, foil lunch, ultimate sleepout. Closing campfire and chicken BBQ with your family. ADVANCEMENT: Opportunity to complete Outdoorsman and Aquanaut, and to work on Forester, Geologist, and Naturalist. Earn Archery and BB belt loops. Den Leader records requirements met. ORIENTATION: One or more dates will be scheduled in the Spring and early Summer for families to visit camp to see facilities and to talk with staff.
