Pack 28 was the largest group attending Wild Webelos Weekend 2000.  This was the 10th Anniversary of Wild Webelos Weekend as hosted by the Housatonic Council.  Each Webelo and parent received a special event patch as shown here.

Wild Webelos Weekend 2000 patch

After arriving at camp on Friday evening and setting up,  the campfire was started and everyone settled in getting used to natures surroundings.  As the evening progressed, the temperatures slowing decreased closer to the freezing mark.  With the prospects of freezing temperatures, everyone made sure our young campers were well bundled for the night ahead.

Saturday morning at 6AM, the thermometer provided by Tom Townsend read 32 degrees.  We had prevailed the cold evening.  The fire was restarted as it had died down from the evening before.  As more and more scouts and adults woke up, things started warming up.
Breakfast was quickly here and gone as we prepared for the busy day ahead.  The scouts were assembled in the main arena for the
Opening Ceremonies and plans for the day ahead working on a host of Webelos Activities. This continued throughout the day with a lunch break at  12 noon.  The scouts were learning and at the same time having loads of fun.

Late afternoon brought some free-time back at our campsite which featured waterfront views by the babbling brook.  Some scouts went fishing while others whittled while some just hung out relaxing.   Dinner was just a few short hours away.

Saturday night, Pack 28 feasted on chicken stir-fry by Chef Devon Chapin which was second to none.  There was plenty for all and than some.  Hot dogs on rolls were also served up.  Bug juice was ready for the thirsty along with hot cocoa and coffee.  Marshmallows over the fire as well as freshly popped popcorn made the evening a memorable event that the scouts and parents will not soon forget.

The Housatonic Council hosted a Saturday night campfire with each Pack putting on a skit or leading a song.  Pack 28, under the musical direction of Mr. Bruce Bednarsky lead the group in a rousing medley of catchy and lively tunes which started the multitudes and campfire really roaring.

Sunday morning brought a close to a wonderful campout. Closing Ceremonies were conducted with all Packs assembled while the flags were lowered and ribbons and patched were distributed.  Thoughts of what a fun time was had by all and knowing that this will be repeated again next year came to mind.  For some, this would be their last Wild Webelos Weekend as they will move up to Boy Scouts soon.  For others, next year will make them the Senior Webelos with experience.

And so the cycle begins again.

See you next year.
